This is a family review of this beautiful upside-down resort: Radisson Blu, Arguineguin. We visited with our family and had our expectations of the hotel itself completely blown out of the water. Arguineguin itself was incredible in all its beauty. A beauty that was quite different for us and very eye opening.

However in this article, I’ll be focusing on our experience staying with the Radisson Blu in Arguineguin.

Note before we continue that there is another Radisson Blu hotel in Gran Canaria however I will be sharing our experience specifically at the one in Arguineguin.

Our Top 4 Highlights of Radisson Blu Arguineguin

So I really want to start with those things that I know families care about the most when they’re planning holidays.

1. Room logistics

I loved the fact that our hotel suite was set up in the form of two different rooms.  We got the junior suite so we had the main bedroom and then we also had the living room which you enter into when you opened the main door. It was the first room you see and the living room had a pull-out couch so that was basically a second bedroom.

If your family is like ours, you could be Mummy and Daddy in the main bedroom and the two kids on the comfortable sofa bed in the living room. We didn’t do it like that actually because our kids are quite little (five and two) and so we were all in the main bedroom really but we like the fact that we could spread out if we wanted to. For example, for nap time for our two-year-old in the afternoons, he could have his nap in the main bedroom with the door closed and not be disturbed by his big sister making noise in the living room.

It was ideal for us.

We also had a spacious balcony outside the room where you could relax as a family if you didn’t fancy leaving the room. Our view was great from the balcony because we could see the ocean and also the pool area. That was helpful for us to know how busy the area was before taking the kids out for a swim.

2. The Staff

One of the highlights of the hotel for us was definitely the staff as they really went out of their way to make sure that we felt comfortable in every way possible. They were very accommodating of every single request that we made. Not that we made lots of requests but they could’ve gotten irritated by the fact that we asked for the large glass table in the living room to be taken out because it just seemed like a safety hazard for our two- year-old.

They were very nice about it. It was done really quickly as well. Every single staff member we met from the reception to the dining area was very friendly and paid special attention to making the kids happy which always felt special. It makes for a lovely atmosphere for when you’ve got little children.

In the restaurant, look out for Samuel, Miguel Angel and Nicole who were beyond amazing especially with the kids.

I must mention the kids’ club as well which was a fantastic place for our 5 year old to spend an hour or so each day. Brenda was amazing. Very attentive and our sometimes shy daughter opened up with her quickly.

3. The pool area

The hotel has different pools of various depths spread over a fairly large area. This was truly ideal for those of us with little kids because we could spend time with them in the baby pool or leave them in it and only be a couple of steps away from them in a deeper pool.

As there are different pools, we never got to the point of feeling like any of them were too busy but that may also have had something to do with the fact that we were there during an off peak period.

4. Beach access

The hotel location provides access to a couple of beaches only very short walks from the property. They’re sandy beaches too so lots of fun sand play if you’ve got little children. If you’re feeling adventurous, there are other things you can do at the beaches like windsurfing and scuba diving.

Okay. Now that we’re done with the highlights of the hotel for us as a family, let’s get into some of the most frequently asked questions online about Radisson Blu Arguineguin.

Is Radisson and Radisson Blu the same?

The Radisson Hotel Group owns Radisson Blu and other hotels such as Radisson Red and Park Plaza.

Is Radisson a luxury brand?

Well, it certainly felt like a luxury brand to us! The three words I’d associate the most with our experience with Radisson Blu Arguineguin are comfort, sophistication and luxury. Finding all three in a brand is not the easiest thing to do.

It felt like we were being offered the comforts of home in addition to the best that any hotel has to offer.

How far is the Radisson Blu from the airport?

Our journey was a 40 minute ride from the airport to the hotel.

Do Radisson Blu rooms have fridges?

While I don’t know what all room types offered at the resort, we stayed in the junior suite and had a fridge freezer. It also had an oven, washing machine and dishwasher.

What is included in the free toiletries?

Well, if by free you mean included in the cost of your stay then for the price of our junior suite, we got toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, cotton buds, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and nail files. We took our own toiletries so they may have been more there that I didn’t discover!

You of course have access to a hair dryer as well.

More things you’ll enjoy about the hotel

  • The boutique

There’s an on-site boutique where you’ll find out the beachwear you could ever need from bikinis to cover ups to hats and towels. They also stock kids toys, kids swim inflatables and also pool shoes for children.

If, like us, you go with your own inflatables but no pump, they’ll kindly inflate them for you for free.

  • On-site convenience store

They stock everything from milk and cereal to sandwiches, crisps and cold cuts of meat.

  • Location and accessibility

The Radisson Blu Resort, Gran Canaria is on the island’s southern coast, situated between two beaches. Its prime coastal location, close to the mountains and shoreline, makes it the ideal spot to enjoy everything the island has to offer.

The resort is easily accessible from Las Palmas Airport, with scenic roads through the mountains and along the coast. You can reach the hotel by taxi or public transportation and there’s on-site parking for those driving. Private transfers can also be arranged in advance, which is what we did. It was a seamless experience.

With its proximity to local attractions, shopping, and dining, the Radisson Blu Arguineguin offers a convenient base for exploring Gran Canaria, ensuring a hassle-free and enjoyable stay.

  • Child friendly town

Even the few shops we went into were stocked with colouring pens and paper to keep the kids occupied while you shop around!

The two separate taxis we used during our stay also had the choice of different age car seats to suit our two children. Amazing.

The only downside…

We’re all proper foodies and always look forward to enjoying different, delicious meals on vacation. Unfortunately the resort fell short in this area for us. I wouldn’t know what other guests thought.

However, for us, the food choices at breakfast and dinner were insufficient and lacked flavour. Thinking about it, we decided that it must have been because it was off-peak season and they must not put much thought into their menu when the hotel was not extremely busy.

Having said that though, if you want flavour, their pool bar had a lot of items on the menu that were definitely flavourful so it’s an option for you to have your lunch there if you’re not satisfied with the meals served in the hotel restaurant itself. I don’t believe I ever saw the pool bar open in the mornings or evenings though!

Now, imagine having only ONE negative thing to say about an entire holiday…with little children!
