I’ve been very excited to try out the Ellie Baby Pro monitor and app. The opportunity came at a time when I needed it the most. I’ll be sharing my experience of it so far with you.
My youngest is two years old and has shown an interest in moving out of his crib and into a bed like his big sister. I was apprehensive about putting him in a room on his own and knew I’d only feel better about it if I had a baby monitor I could trust.
Enter the Ellie Baby Pro.
It uses AI audio and visual technology so I knew it would stand out from the rest.
In this article, I’ll be reviewing the Ellie Baby Pro monitor and app. I’ll share the things I love most about it and help you to decide if it’s the right smart baby monitor for you.

I’m guessing that if you’re here, it’s because you need a reliable baby monitor.
Why is it important to have a reliable baby monitor?

The importance of having a reliable baby monitor such as the Ellie Baby Pro lies in ensuring the safety and well-being of your baby. Here are several reasons why a reliable baby monitor is essential.
- Monitoring sleep and safety. A baby monitor allows you to keep a close eye on your baby while they are sleeping. This is particularly important during the early months when infants sleep for extended periods and may need feeding or attention.
- Immediate response to needs. With a reliable baby monitor, you can respond promptly to your baby’s needs. If your baby is awake or crying, you can quickly attend to them, providing comfort, food, or a diaper change.
- Peace of mind for parents. Knowing that you can hear and see your baby, even if you are in another room, provides parents with peace of mind. This helps reduce stress and anxiety, especially for first-time parents.
- Security and safety. Some baby monitors come with additional features such as temperature sensors, night vision, and motion detectors. These features contribute to creating a safe sleeping environment for your baby.
- Sleep training assistance. As your baby grows, you might use the monitor to observe sleep patterns and provide comfort as needed. This can be especially useful when implementing sleep training methods.
- Bonding with baby. For working parents or those who spend time in different parts of the house, a baby monitor allows them to stay connected with their baby, fostering a sense of closeness and bonding.
- Multi-functionality. Some advanced baby monitors offer additional features like lullabies, two-way communication, and the ability to connect to smartphones or other devices. These features enhance the functionality of the monitor and contribute to the overall convenience for parents.
- Security and privacy. Opting for a reliable brand helps ensure that the baby monitor is secure and protects your privacy. Poorly designed or less secure monitors could potentially be susceptible to hacking, risking the safety of your child and the privacy of your home.
Looking at the importance of having a reliable baby monitor above will make you appreciate the following features of the Ellie Baby Pro. They’re what I appreciate about this smart monitor the most.
5 Key features of the Ellie Baby Pro

- High-definition video quality. Provides a clear and detailed video feed for monitoring your baby.
- Two-way audio communication. Enables parents to both listen to and speak to their baby through the monitor.
- Night vision capabilities. Allows monitoring in low-light or dark conditions without disturbing the baby.
- Motion and sound detection. Alerts parents to movement or unusual sounds in the baby’s room.
- Smartphone app functionality. Lets parents monitor their baby remotely using a smartphone app for added convenience.
Why you might like this smart monitor
Convenience is, of course, like music to the ears of any busy mom. That’s what’s so special about this smart monitor. It’s very easy to use and that’s one of the things that makes it so convenient.
The Ellie Pro Baby monitor has been a great experience so far mainly because it is so easy to use. Here are the reasons why: setting it up was easy, it has clearly excellent quality and I feel safe using it.
User-friendly setup process
I found the set up process of the Ellie AI smart monitor extremely straightforward. The pamphlet lays out the setup of the camera equipment itself in only a few steps because that’s really all that is required.
The app also guides you effectively on the steps to connecting to your home Wi-Fi.
The icons on the app show very clearly what icon does what and you don’t have to be a techy person to know which icon to use for what action.
If there is one word I would use for the app interface, it would be ‘intuitive’.
Security and privacy
Sensitive about your family’s privacy and security at the mention of AI? That’s completely understandable. Yes, the smart monitor does use AI for its audio and visual technology. You should feel reassured to know though that all data is locally stored. You can take out the SD card whenever you please.
Pros and cons of the Ellie baby AI monitor
From our point of view as a family (because we all have our opinions of the Ellie baby pro here at home!), these are its top benefits and drawbacks.
Pros
Apart from the easy setup mentioned above, the Ellie baby pro is great because
- There are no extra charges for any of the awesome aspects of the app from sleep analysis to sharing footage with others.
- You can connect it to your smart devices at home. It connects to Google Home and Alexa.
- The picture quality is absolutely amazing. The sound quality is excellent too. Both are crisp and clear. It stands out as a benefit for us because we’ve gone through a couple of baby monitors in the past with terrible video quality.
- The crying detection feature is wonderful. Sometimes baby’s will cry in their sleep and this could mean that they won’t be moving much while crying so you could miss it. The crying detection will notify you.

- It tracks the temperature and humidity levels in your baby’s room. This is invaluable to anyone who has a snuffly baby.
- It’s cute. It looks sophisticated enough but also very much like a child-related accessory to fit in with any kind of home decor.
Cons
- The monitor needs an electricity source to function. This is the case for all the baby monitors I’ve encountered however I choose to note it as a con for any of you who are living in areas where electricity is not reliable and you therefore require a rechargeable baby monitor.
- This may go without saying but you need to have good Wi-Fi at home to benefit from using this smart monitor. If not, the video will of course freeze from time to time or go off altogether, requiring you to restart it.
In summary,
I’ve really enjoyed the Ellie baby pro smart monitor. It’s been nice to have an easy set up process with a baby-related item for once!
The crisp visuals and ability to hear clearly were a nice surprise too after our past experiences with baby monitors.
